Arrival at Pudong airport Shanghai China

Moon in the sky, same moon everywhere. Heat wave at 10pm china time, hit us like a brick. Way too much luggage, just had to carry those ugg boots!!! Moments like these you ask yourself where is the nearest clothing bin?
Ride home felt like a movie scene, lots of trucks. Blue long trucks as many male bodies as could legally or illegally fit, small and tall, bare chested with cigerettes hanging out of mouths. My favourite picture in my mind. Symbolising care free and free spirited with no concerns of image.
Next stop home? for the next two years?

Guards at main entrance of complex, loud noises jibberish no sense language, forward reverse forward reverse, refrain from bagging them out. its hard not too. Do I want to bag them out becoz I feel embarassed and overwhelmed? Hot sweltering weather, got across the small green patch of grass, entered block of flats, dirty, smelly, in lift, 3rd floor, key wont open door. Inside, decked out in chinerised flash gear. At least the curtains are blue and cream and the light decs are arty enough.
On table m+ms, (thats a relief), winnie the pooh tissue box, (comforting) other chinese stuff.

Next Day:
Need food, how to do? Go to supermarket round the corner. Will we get pushed and shoved? What if they rip us off? Shopping easier than first thought. sugar is sugar and not salt. Found the color of labels seem to be universal at least china and australia feel the same way about this!! Next day need photos up on walls. spend next few days getting this done. Ahh now that is a relief. Dont want to open curtains at all!!! We are not really in this strange place called China!!!

Next couple of days, off to the quack and it aint the quack as we know it, its quack nazi style, except without the wash and powder!!!!, everybody with robes on!! net shoe thingos over shoes. We made friends that day.

This is the month of August arriving on the sixth.
